I think Blink-182's best albums were Enema of the State and Take Off Your Pants and Jacket when it comes to track listing, audio quality, and commercial success. On the other hand, my favorite Blink 182 album might be Dude Ranch because of the time it was released and impact it had on me at that point in time. It also showcases the raw energy and "punk" aspect Blink 182 was all about when they started their career.

Well, The Fray's first album was great, it encompassed raw emotion, and meaningful lyrics, along with great melodies and originality. I felt the second album lacked that diversity seen in the first album. I felt the some songs were just dutifully created as if only to meet the 12 (album) track quota. The first two singles You Found Me and Never Say Never were very good songs. You found me struck the hearts of millions; as we all question our faith and whether or not there is a higher power looking out for us. Never Say Never was a powerful love ballad, and for the first time we see the use of orchestra (violins and such) to help evoke or enhance the emotion. But I felt that rest of the songs were melancholic (down tempo, slow, sad-ish). What I love about this band, is that though they toyed with the whole idea of changing their sound, or going in a direction that mimicked the mainstream garbage, they decided to go back to their roots: Diversity (in terms of mood), meaningful lyrics, evolution. Heartbeat is a great single, because it says two things: Hey we are not conforming to the industry demands for "pop" (ie. Coldplay, Mariah Carey, et al.) and two, this album is not going to be over produced non-sense (ie. secondhand serenade, goo goo dolls et al.). This album will surely beat How To Save a Life and The Fray (second self titled) by miles; not in terms of sales per-say, but rather in terms of quality.

Hopefully I get to read your review of the album in the coming fortnight, Jeff.
